Harmonious Hiring of Foreign Doctors

General NewsIt can be hard for agencies to get the balance right because in such a fast paced industry as often the commission factor can be the only driving force behind placing a candidate in a role. There has been recent interest from the press regarding this issue after a few cases of foreign doctor’s negligence had been reported during the spring of 2010. In a time of economic change when the decision makers within the NHS are being asked to cut costs, they can often face a difficult choice; whether to pay high rates for UK based doctors or lower rates for foreign ones.

Zubbles

General NewsA little while back, I wrote about the advancements made in Lego since my days as a nipper, and today I discover that another favourite pastime of mine, and perhaps a lot of you, has also taken some strides forward.

Meet Zubbles.....MULTI COLOURED BUBBLES !!!!!

Can you cope...in my day you only got one colour bubble, and that was "NO COLOUR" !!

At the moment you can only get blue and pink Zubbles, but I`m sure pretty soon they will release green and red and orange and lime and yellow and purple and black and....*sigh*....I want coloured bubbles. Nessieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, buy me coloured bubbles !!!!!
At $14-95 for a two pack, it is a bit expensive, but I reckon I would fork out the dollars just to see them flying about the sky....

Lego has come a long way.....

General NewsWhen I was a nipper, Lego was like tupperware. My parents would buy me a small plastic tub containing an array of multi-coloured blocks and bits, and I`d get together with my mates (who would also bring their little boxes of lego) and we`d build little houses and forts.

Over time my mates` Lego got mixed in with mine and after a while I`d have ten times the Lego I started out with. Be that as it may, we were always very limited in what we could build...we never had Lego 'wheels', and so the racing cars we slapped together were very limited when it came to actually moving anywhere, due to the fact that they had square wheels. We could build walls, and houses, but they had no doors that opened, no windows that moved, and so the whole Lego experience was somewhat limiting for me.
Look what the nippers nowadays have to play with, Lego spaceships, medieval villages, cars with 'actual' wheels, the space monsters have arms, legs and heads that can 'move', *sigh* it makes me want to head off to the nearest Toys-R-Us and pine for my childhood years again.

There is hardly a thing out there that you cannot build with Lego nowadays, as can be seen below. If I had one of these when I was younger, I`d have hopped in, put on cruise control and whizzed around the neighbourhood like there was no tomorrow....yup, a full sized Lego car !!!!!! Can you cope, people !!!???!!!

For those who want, there is a video of this car, in red nogal, available on YouTube, and if you want to see the most awesome stuff that Lego are making these days, head on over to the official Lego website to check out the most amazing plastic goodies on this planet.

Unknown lifeform found in sewer

General NewsSo a 'snakecam' patrolling the sewers in North Carolina happened upon this little interesting blob of stuff a few days ago.

At first glance it looks like something Bongmaster sends me from those goatse sites, but this one IS ALIVE !!!!! AND PULSATING !!!!!
This video has already racked up over 2 million views since its release 3 days ago, and until someone verifies this is legit, I`m going with the usual "Photoshopped !!" routine :)
Take a look and make up your own mind.

The Pygmy Jerboa

General NewsThis just in from The "Awwww...its so frikkin cute but what the hell is it?" Department....meet the pygmy jerboa.
This little critter weighs only 3.2grams, but do not be fooled by its size and cuteness, this thing is a killer !!!

Notice at around 50 seconds into the video how it adopts the "Jerboa Killer Stare" look. It is with this stare that it hypnotises its enemies, and when they are totally incapacitated, launches at them with its killer claws and sharp pointy teeth, totally annihilating them. If the killer stare doesn`t work (especially if the enemy is running away and not facing the jerboa), then it lashes out with its lightning fast tail, which it uses to strangle its victims.
Lol...ok ok, I might be exaggerating just a tad, for the real low-down on this furry little dude, check out the Wiki...

Space Bat - A True Hero

General NewsOn 15 March 2009, NASA launched the space shuttle Discovery into space for the STS-119 Shuttle Mission.
But this was no ordinary launch.

Wildlife experts were called in to investigate a bat which had latched onto the shuttles` center tank that contains the liquid hydrogen and oxygen. After some deliberation it was decided that the bat was seriously injured, and if attempts were made to rescue it, that it would probably not live long.

So Discovery blasted off into space with the little critter attached to it, frying the dude in the process.
Poor Space Bat :(

To commemorate Space Bats` bravery and sacrifice in search of his dreams, please go to this site and let your voice be heard to convince NASA to name a Space Shuttle after him. Its the least we can do to honour a true space hero.
Long live Space Bat !!

Source : Here. You can view the hi res image on the NASA site that shows tiny little Space Bat clinging to the side of the tank, all alone, as he prepares for blast off.
