Lego has come a long way.....

When I was a nipper, Lego was like tupperware. My parents would buy me a small plastic tub containing an array of multi-coloured blocks and bits, and I`d get together with my mates (who would also bring their little boxes of lego) and we`d build little houses and forts.

Over time my mates` Lego got mixed in with mine and after a while I`d have ten times the Lego I started out with. Be that as it may, we were always very limited in what we could build...we never had Lego 'wheels', and so the racing cars we slapped together were very limited when it came to actually moving anywhere, due to the fact that they had square wheels. We could build walls, and houses, but they had no doors that opened, no windows that moved, and so the whole Lego experience was somewhat limiting for me.

Look what the nippers nowadays have to play with, Lego spaceships, medieval villages, cars with 'actual' wheels, the space monsters have arms, legs and heads that can 'move', *sigh* it makes me want to head off to the nearest Toys-R-Us and pine for my childhood years again.

There is hardly a thing out there that you cannot build with Lego nowadays, as can be seen below. If I had one of these when I was younger, I`d have hopped in, put on cruise control and whizzed around the neighbourhood like there was no tomorrow....yup, a full sized Lego car !!!!!! Can you cope, people !!!???!!!

For those who want, there is a video of this car, in red nogal, available on YouTube, and if you want to see the most awesome stuff that Lego are making these days, head on over to the official Lego website to check out the most amazing plastic goodies on this planet.
