Handy Tools to have...

|
I`ve been a regular reader at Netcraft.com, who provide a range of services relating to security and other internet issues. One handy tool that I`ve recently come across is the Netcraft Toolbar, which detects all manner of dodgey websites and allows you divert your browser if you don`t want to continue viewing it. |
| This is a very handy thing to have installed, as I found out the other day. On Monday morning I received an email from my bank to state that various login attempts were performed on my account, and that I had to go to their website and confirm my login credentials. Being savvy to these sort of things I decided to check it out anyway... The fraudulent website looked almost identical to my banks site, the colour schemes used, the layout, the information that it contained, everything. Now if I were a 'fast-asleep-behind-the-keyboard' user, I would have clicked the login page, entered my login credentials, and cried five minutes later when my cellphone alerted me to the R 1000-00 withdrawal from my savings account. Not a nice thing to have happen. So, if you are not very savvy with the fraudulent schemes that are going on out there on the net, get the Netcraft Toolbar and let it help keep your money safely in your account. Aside from the ability to detect and warn you of fraudulent sites, the Toolbar also allows you to report any sites you may suspect are dodgey so that they can investigate them further, and also provides other tools which you may find useful... |
