I`ve been on for a while now about getting a new Ibanez, despite looking at and wanting to get a Fender for a while. I was aching to get another Ibanez, cuz they look so cool and all of the world`s best players play `em. So I did.
As soon as I got home I started fiddling around, setting things up, and played for about 3 hours total. Eventually I had to stop cuz my one finger was starting to split from all the string bending/sliding whilst beating the shit out of the strings when taking the guitar through its paces.
It feels different to my other Ibanez, the RG560, the strings sit a bit higher, the sound is different, the pickups are much more powerful, volume control is more refined, the friction at the back of the neck is minimal...and best of all, the best feature of all, is the fact that the higher frets are easier to access compared to my other guitar..This is due to the rounded design on the body at the point where the neck joins the body of the guitar. In the past I`ve found it difficult to access frets 19 to 24, so I`ve got a whole new bunch of notes and harmonics to explore now :)
Another thing I have to explore now is the 45 page manual that comes with it, not one on how to play the guitar, but how to change strings and set the intonation and action exactly, how to set the tremolo system to the perfect height, adjusting the truss rod...it`s like learning to walk again.
But enough blah blah yakka yakka wot wot, time to go play again...
